Does SAPD not monitor these? Aftercall, SAPD used to ANNOYINGLY love doing speed traps and tickey-tack fines for minor violations on the interstates thru the city in unmarked cars just a few years ago, not sure if they still do.

Driving in the carpool /diamond lane with a single occupant is a big time fine in other parts of the country. Highway patrol takes it much more seriously than speeding here in CA.

If the majority of drivers here can't be bothered to use their turn signals (including SAPD), why would they care about HOV rules?

Have you seen the numbers on uninsured and illegal drivers (using fake paper plates) here?

I really don't expect SA to understand HOV lane driving.

I see more illegal plates in Austin than I ever did in SA. (Although, it could be that I live in a more middle/low class area here). The state is very aware of the needs of these paper plates and changes have been made. Not sure if anything has changed as far as enforcement, but the state is somewhat aware of this need. https://www.khou.com/amp/article/mon...0-cd41c5d63bd2

I drive by the HOV lanes every day going and coming from work. 9 out of every 10 cars I see in that lane have a single occupant. And they are going about 80-90 mph it seems. They should just make it a normal lane.

If I remember correctly, these HOV lanes are on IH10 on the far Northside near the Dominion, the well to do area of SA. The land of Teslas, Mercedes, BMWs and Denali SUV/pickups.

I honestly dislike HOV lanes. It's like a tiered driving system - every car on the road is paying taxes for those roads and should have the right to use the lanes in a legal manner. I won't violate an HOV lane, but I don't have to like 'em.
Sooner or later, they'll start enforcing the lanes.....that should prove....ah...."interesting"! :{)

Yes. That’s where the HOV lanes are. I was commenting on where I live in Austin as to why I think I see more illegal plates compared to when I lived in San Antonio. (10/de Zavala, 410/Jackson Keller and then Wurzbach/Callaghan but worked downtown SA, near military/410 and deep west side near Colorado/10. Even then I don’t recall seeing as many paper plates that I do in central east Austin).
