I went to read the whole article and it mentioned the dogs are American Staffordshire Terriers early in the article which are not pit bulls but later in the article refers to them as pit bulls. True pit bulls are quite bit larger so I am willing to bet that is what they really are.

The DAs in this city have been lazy on that. It's absolutely ridiculous.
DWI is dangerous for the public, the problem is it's also a huge racket for county governments with a steady flow of LARGER THAN NORMAL fines which means there is no motivation for change.

According to ACS:
"This incident is one of several dog related attacks in the city in recent weeks.

ACS said it receives 3,500 bite calls annually."

Another incident happened not long ago:
A 53-year-old man was brought to the hospital with a “serious laceration” on his neck after police responded to an animal bite call at North Colorado Street and West Martin Street. SAPD say Marcus Davila, 40, had intentionally allowed his dog to attack the man.
He was arrested on felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and dangerous dog attack causing serious bodily injury.
Those dogs often end up at ACS for the quarantine period. Dogs are considered property, though, and the owner is typically able to get their pet back at the end of the 10 days.
ACS has to try to get a court order to euthanize them.

Some cities ban dangerous dogs, why San Antonio can't do that? How many people need to suffer or die till something is done?
Here is a list of restricted or banned dog breeds in each state:
https://www.thepetzealot.com/2023/04...-each.html?m=1

More than 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year in the United States, and more than 800,000 receive medical attention for dog bites, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Loose, stray and dangerous dogs are problem in San Antonio.
San Antonio has had a notorious reputation for its issue with stray dogs and animal overpopulation for decades, but COVID-19 only exacerbated the problem.
Despite the education efforts and even with the shelters full, strays continue to roam the streets of San Antonio.
Watch what Mayor Ron Nirenberg said about that:

Dog bite death, low response rates leads city to propose big budget increase for Animal Care Services.

https://sanantonioreport.org/san-ant...s-budget-2024/

Dogs are deemed dangerous after someone files a notarized “dangerous dog” affidavit and the department completes an investigation.

Sadly, not many people have time to file notarized affidavit, or fear retaliations from those dog owners.

If attacked where people can have/carry a gun, shoot the vicious dog attacking you.

100% agree. It's a systemic problem.

The EN didn't quite go far enough to say that, but then again, they never really push too deep with any story... It's not in their wheelhouse as journalists.

A friend always had 4-5 dogs on her ranch. 2 of the last group were pitbulls. The whole pack got along and the pit bull I liked the best slaughtered the other one, literally ripped its head off at the neck. They originally thought a wild animal killed the dog until they saw the "winner" covered in blood. No rhyme or reason, she whistled to feed them and one dog didn't show up so she went looking and found the gruesome scene.

She wanted to put the dog down, her daughter refused and took the dog to her house (where she had a small child)........crazy.

Yeah pitbulls are a no go for me too. I know someone that got mauled in the face by one. I don't understand why they're so popular in the inner city and what the deal is with all the stray dogs. Seems to be the same thing going on in Houston/Dallas too.
