Is it 16:9? Are you watching via terestrial signal or cable?

It fit the full screen of my 16:9 LCD and it was on TWC channel 105.

Excellent. I will be watching tonight. WOAI and KSAT had better get on the ball or they will lose viewers and advertising dollars.

This looks pretty good...they dont have the weather in HD yet and the reporters are basically upscaled 480i. But the in-studio anchor cameras look great.

A few observations:

The HD camera doesn't flatter Chris Marrou and Deborah Knapp.

We weren't missing much by not being able to see the edges of the weather graphics.

There's still a lot of video in the newscast that isn't HD. (You can see black bars along the edge.)

The logo in the corner that flips between "KENS 5" and "Now in HD" is distracting. Why can't they just call it KENS 5 HD and skip the flipping?

Sounds great; I'll have to give it a try. I wish more tv providers would start broadcasting more content on their HD channels already...

A huge leap in local TV for us. We're now right up there with the major markets!

Karen and Ross look better in high def. There are alot of fans on this board and rightfully so. If anyone hates on them in this market, its because they stand out and they have more education and sophistication than most of the talent in this market. They also have great on air chemistry. By the way- have you ever seen them in person? They are striking.

Okay, so I've been watching KENS's 10pm broadcasts just because they're now in HD. Here are my thoughts:

*They use good HD cams. The feeds are strong and the graphic dept is killing me with some nice wipes, cuts, etc.

*I hate that they still use some much reg-def footage from their in-the-field cams. It sucks to go from this beautiful pic of Sarah Lucero to this grainy, pixelated image of city council. Not that I really want to see those people in HD, but it's the principal of the matter.

So far, so good KENS. Keep it up. Maybe KSAT will soon follow.
