Weren't they supposed to develope a Mexican themed retail center on the side towards Sea World?

That is no longing happening and another company has come in and is going to develop something else. A mixed-use development called Escala.

And the new development (Escala) is supposed to be on the other side of Military dr. Directly opposite Seawrold and near the new middle school.

thanks for that info. I didn't know anything was going in over there. I kinda liked the tranquility of the old 151 corridor though.

We were looking at this on the way into work today and I was wondering if anyone had any updated info? I Googled Escala San Antonio and came up with a mixed-use development by some company out of Idaho. It says that development could be over 1 million square feet and that tract of land just doesn't look like it could support that. Is this Escala going behind the Valero @ 151/Military?

Yes! they are in fact working on an apartment complex. Source... Me! lol serously I took some base loads a few weeks ago.
