Just heard on the radio that ExpressJet Airlines is shutting down. The loss of ExpressJet will mean that SAT loses direct flights to 6 cities. Airport officials are trying to persuade other airlines to add flights to those cities from SAT, but it will be a tough sell in this business climate.

On the plus side of the ledger, it looks like Southwest Airlines will be partnering with the Canadian airline WestJet to offer flights to Canada.

Yup,

Express Jet had been hurting for some time. Saw that one coming from a mile away. Nice to see SWA finally partner up and obtain some Int'l destinations. Caribbean and Mexico are better than nothing.

It's not a merger--it's a codeshare. Works in the same way as American's "OneWorld Alliance" or United's "Star Alliance." Basically, they can book an international ticket using Southwest for part of the flight and Westjet for another.

Non-stop flights. There is a difference.

Umm, San Antonio has little to do with an airline going bankrupt. I expect you will see more in the coming year including one big legacy airline (Delta I'm looking at you). If say Delta goes, does that make Atlanta terrible? Or does it make Houston terrible if Continental goes?

Well since the poster that you are quoting thought San Antonio was in horrible condition already who knows. Maybe if she realized since Toyota was announced this metro has added 45,000+ jobs she would realize where this city's has come from and is going! But oh no it is a so so so so so horrible mark her words!
