I am moving to San Antonio the end of September and would like to get back into the post office. I have over 5 years experience, and have worked in multiple states. Mostly as a rural carrier, but looking at maybe getting into the Clerk craft this time. Anyone have any info for me...who I can contact? I am sure that there is room for me somewhere. But maybe not, considering that on the postal service website, they don't have any test dates listed for San Antonio...can anyone help me out? Thanks for you time!!!

Good luck trying to get back in after leaving. I had a friend that moved here from PA, had worked up there for 15+ years, and couldn't get a job as a rehire.

I can see why... getting into the Post Office is hard.. you ever see how fast they work? I have been in a couple of the different ones... I am not 100% sure a fire under their asses would make them move any faster... the lines could be out of the door and they just take their times.. and one thing.. when it is their lunch time.. they go.. no matter if there are 100 people in line..

I think I will try and apply for that job! I am sure someone has to literally die in order to get another person hired on.. everyone moves at a snails pace there and therefore they want to stay working there!

Good luck. The USPS just got authorization for a VERA (Very Early Retirement Authorization) from OPM to try to reduce the workforce by 40,000. This covers just about all crafts.
