What is the best plan of action for cleaning out a home in San Antonio and getting rid of years and years of junk?

Take the junk out to the garage, from there to the back of a pickup and then to the dump.

Anything that you suspect of being an antique research on the web first before moving to the garage.

is the junk in question yours or is someone getting you to do this for them?

When I met my current wife, she'd been widowed for a number of years. LOTS of stuff had accumulated over time, much of it too big/heavy for her to handle. I ordered one of those RO-RO (roll-on, roll-off) containers, had it spotted in the driveway and had it filled in a day. They hauled it off, and that was that. LOTS cheaper than I could've done the truck-load at a time to the dump for.

Start sorting out things. Throw out the trash and rent a dumpster if you need to. Donate what is usable to charities that will pick up like Salvation Army or take it to the donation centers when you have a car/truck load. Box up anything that may be of value to research later and store if possible. If you have a relative that may want something, give it to them! Check with the auction house on Bandera and see when they will have room for any items you might want to auction off. Take books to Half Price books or donate them. If it's not your personal stuff, then make sure you go through everything because you never know what you will find in a box!

If there is anything of decent value, please donate it to charity. Also, if you have any items that can be recycled, please do.
