First of all, I'd like to thank everyone on this forum for all the input and information on San Antonio. Our family is relocating in the near future and I guess, our main concern at this point, is the school district factor. Our son is in High School and our daughter's a 5th grader. We want them to have a top notch education as most parents desire for their kids but we also realize that quality of schools differ, depending on the area and neighborhood you live in. We will be completely new to San Antonio and are going to need to enroll the kids right away so again, really appreciate any advice!

Do you have an actual question, or should we just start talking?

San Antonio has 13 public school districts. What's the price range of houses you'll be looking at? Are you eligible for the Air Force base schools? That'll give us an idea of what to recommend.

We are looking at buying a home in the $150,000 - $200,000 range.

At that price point, IMO, you should be focusing on Northside ISD and North East ISD. Which side of town will your working family members be commuting to?

In the NEISD webpage, they have a map of the school districts of San Antonio

And of course, you'll want to look at reviews and ratings on Great Schools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community and also find out which schools are rated well by the state (I'd personally stick with recognized and exemplary, not because all schools without these ratings are bad, but because if you're making a long-distance choice, you've gotta pick something on which to base your decision, right? )
