Cameras Catch Thieves in the Act | WOAI.COM: San Antonio News

These people are running crazy in my neighborhood, and they may have gotten them on camera. They are stealing our potted plants and lawn ornaments of all things. This homeowner has them on camera and says it is a green P/U truck. Be on the lookout!

I pity the fool that tries to hit the wrong house. How stupid would it be to die for some plants? It's legal though.

Supposedly they were able to get the plate number off the truck. I think it's been a white van doing it in our neighborhood, but still.....one less loser is one less loser.

I think it's sad that we have to resort to video surveillance to curb criminals, but that's another thread. That said, I think it's a good, cheap way for people to 'watch' their homes and I'm all for putting these idiots away!

Folks, I have not purchased one yet but Sam's sells a self contained video camera that is motion activated and records the perps on a SD disk, for $97.00. My neighborhood association is considering purchasing a bunch of these to allow residents to barrow them to help catch taggers and plant thieves.

Now, the important part is to make the DA prosecute these people when they catch them and not allow them to get community service.

I love this quote:

Quote:
"I saw the gentleman with a lady in the passenger seat of the truck, pull up to the driveway for a few minutes, get out and try to load up the pot. But it looked like it was too heavy."
Gentleman? Lady? Does anyone have any extra scorpions they could dump in some flower pots? Poison ivy? Itching powder? Or how about a receptacle for pooper scoopers? The mind is reeling with booby trap ideas....

i picked up a set of 4 IR cams and DVR from Altex a few months ago to help "prove" my innocence in the matter i briefly discussed in the other thread.

it was $700, but i installed it on my own and i can access anywhere i get internet connection. i love it!
