Hi there, God willing, our family will be moving to the Alamo Heights area around March. I'm ready to start looking for a new home church & preschool. I would prefer a christian based preschool, but am open to others if they are really great - depending on the cost. Only part-time though 2-3 days a week. (I know some only offer 5 day a week programs) Any favorites? Suggestions? Ones I should avoid? I'm not really looking for a mother's day out program -(I feel there's not really alot of teaching going on in those & usually they are only for a few hours as opposed to all day) Anything is appreciated -- Thank you!!

I've heard a lot of good things about The Acorn. Some of their programs have an explicitly Christian component and some don't.

I know people who have kids at Alamo Heights Presbyterian and at St. Peter Prince of Apostles, and St. Luke's Episcopal School and are happy there.

Hope this at least gives you a place to start looking!

I would call ASAP and get on the waiting lists. Mommy's to be have babies gestating that are already registered! Don't worry about which ones right now...just get your name on all of them and then check them out! I'm not kidding.

I think the Acorn School is half day? Or maybe it just used to be...?

I've heard a lot of good things about AH Presbyterian as well. A couple of my friend had their kids there when they were little and it's supposed to be pretty awesome.

I was curious so I looked at their website- they seem to have a variety of options for either AM-half day, PM-half day (this has a religious education or bible study component to it), or full day, and options to go 3, 4 or 5 days a week. Plus, I saw that they have added Kindergarten.
