I've never had a problem there. You probably face more danger navigating the constantly under construction roadways and idjit drivers than you do having someone break into your car.

I don't recall seeing security in the parking area, but I'm sure there is.

I understand there is a "cell phone "waiting area that you do not have to park if you are picking up someone. They call you when they have thier luggage and you can drive to the pick up area. No need to park and pay the fees or be worried about your car.

Top level close to the terminals is probably safest. Clear view of the lot from the terminal area, just across the road way.

We used to have a saying back in Jersey..."want your car gone ..park it at Newark Airport". That was the absolute WORST place that one could park their car back in the day. .Talk about "Gone in 60 seconds"?? Your car might be gone quicker than that at Newark!

I am in and out of the airport on average once or twice monthly over the last three years. Sometimes dropping off/picking up, sometimes running in to get tickets, sometimes parking for over a week, sometimes in the long term, sometimes in the daily (garage) and mostly in the hourly. I have never had nor seen anything suspicious happen to me or my car.

Now, I DO always secure everything in my trunk and leave nothing in plain view - including the little rings my GPS suction cup leaves. But I do that at the mall and anywhere high-traffic.

I like the lower hourly lot personally - it's an easy escalator ride to baggage claim and the whole walk is covered from any elements.

The Cell Phone Lot is at the NW corner of Loop 410 & Airport Blvd. You can park and wait in that lot for free, but you have to remain with your vehicle. You can head over to the terminal when your party calls you after they have claimed their luggage. Also, the first 30 minutes of parking is free in the Short-Term garage.
