I wouldn't be surprised to see fewer local personalities on the Clear Channel stations, since the company announced today that it's laying off 9% of its workforce.

if they get the Adam Carolla Show I might have a reason to turn my radio on in this town. But it's rare that a radio station anywhere changes from lame to not lame, so my hopes aren't too high.

Radio giant lays off 9% of workers (http://www.mysanantonio.com/business/local/Radio_giant_lays_off_9_of_workers.html - broken link)

Express-News says that Walter Pasacrita of WOAI-AM and Ticket 760 was one of the layoffs. The rest were mostly in sales. If he's the only on-air personality to go, that probably means a format change isn't in the works.

I noticed the other day that KMFR changed from classic rock to jazz or something. Wasn't too pleased with that because it had a great lineup of music.

So I just bought a new car with satellite radio.

Problem solved.

I understand that situation's temporary due to an equipment issue. The San Antonio FM repeater that retransmits KMFR is now retransmitting KAHL, a station which plays "Adult Standards" on 1310 AM. KMFR will be back on the San Antonio repeater when they get the equipment fixed.

I read elsewhere that a couple of on-air guys at KZEP were part of the Clear Channel layoffs. I wouldn't be surprised to see some tweaks to that station's format.
