Hi all.
I am looking for suggestions for parks to walk in with my little one.
Basically I am looking for smooth paved paths or at least dirt trails without a lot of rocks, since I will be using a stroller.
I live in the Medical Center.
We had been going to park by Evers but they must be redoing the track or something because it is a very bumpy ride!

Any suggestions would be great! The closer the better but if it's a really nice park I don't mind going a little ways out.

Have you seen the track at UTHSC at Babcock/Wurzbach-ish? It's being re-done right now, but last time I was by there, people were using it. It is/was? a half-mile track and very nice! I think there is a sign there that says it's for medical students only, but no one pays attention, trust me. Maybe they have plans to put some sort of system in place to check that--not sure.

Closer to what?

Here's a link that may be of some help: Park Inventory - San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department

Click on the list of parks to see which ones have paved bike trails. I didn't study too hard, but if it says it's ADA accessible, it should have a fairly smooth surface to accomodate wheel chairs.

Off hand, I know there's one just past Sportsman's Warehouse off IH10. It's off on the left (West) side of the hwy. Can't recall the name, but I know there are paved trailes there.

Happy Trails!

I would also look at Nani Falcone Park off of Bandera Road, between Guilbeau and Braun. I know from personal experience that you can take a stroller around the park (primarily concrete paths) to a playground with two sets of equipment (one for smaller, and one for bigger kids). Add to this a library literally across a 2 lane road, and you have something that I wish was there 30 years ago when I was growing up there.

OP Schnabel (on Bandera at Braun) has a lot of running/walking trails also: O.P. Schnabel Park - Parks and Recreation

This picture shows you one of the trails (paved): http://www.sanantonio.gov/sapar/imag...abeltrails.jpg

There is a beautiful paved trail by Salado Creek. You can park off of Blanco close to Wurzbach and it's 2.3 miles long. It just recently opened a few months ago, and it's getting pretty popular now. It goes from Huebner to Blanco.

I second that recommendation. The Creekway trail is wide and smooth.

Once it opens later this year, Voelcker Park (also at Blanco and Wurzbach) will be another great place for stroller walks. One of Mayor Hardberger's instructions to the architects who are designing the park was to make sure the trails would accommodate strollers.
