Being the tough guy I thought I was, I dragged my foot to the bathtub, leaving a long winding trail of blood behind me, and began to cautiously clean the wound. Finally my dad came into the room and I showed him the wound and he nearly fainted and said, "OH SH*T WE GOTTA GO TO THE ER!"

I was just going to put a huge band aid on it, lol. Went to ER and got it all stitched up, but I didn't do my follow up visit...and so the wound didn't heal properly and now it's an ugly scar from not healing properly. To make matters worse, it got infected a few weeks later (I didn't take the antibiotics) and I went to the ER AGAIN for chest pains...they thought I was having a heart attack (not to mention it was 1am in the morning) and so they did a cardiac catheretization and stuck a tube from my hip area to my heart valve so they could see my heart condition. All I remember is watching the hallway lights go past me in a blur as they rushed me from one room to the next. A few minutes later the doctor comes into the room smiling and says nothings wrong, just got a little infection near the heart, but they didn't know where it came from. Later determined it was from my ankle injury..lol. And now I know what heart attack victims go through when they suffer from cardiac arrest.

So, the moral of the story? Take care of your injuries!
OMG!! Almost lost my lunch reading this! You are sooo lucky!!

Glad your leg didn't fall off, TexasNick. When God only gives you one or two of something, you really need to take care of them, k?
I had health insurance, so my actual payment was only $500.

Well I have 10 fingers!! Seriouly, I am surprised at how much you actually use your pinky for gripping things. Or pouring a cup of coffee, brushing your hair, the funniest thing is the pump bottle of hair stuff, I have to use both hands because if I try to use just my right hand it hurts my pinky. Weird.

Nick, you are lucky. I think if I would have seen white bone I would have fainted. My husband said my face was white as a ghost when I looked at my finger. It was all twisted around and sticking out sideways from the big knuckle, YUCK!!!

OK, but a finger is part of a hand, and you only have 2 of those, so that counts, by extension. You should go have them re-break it and set it again. Yikes, my knees went weak just typing that.

My son jammed his finger playing basketball about 12 years ago....never said anything, never complained about it... then about 2 years later, his other fingers had grown but not that one. (Moms--I didn't realize you had to do a finger check every day....I'm neglectful and never claimed to be Mother of the Year before I get bashed!!!) It ended up about an inch and a half shorter than it should have been, with a bunch of scar tissue around his knuckle. He's had surgery once, but it will never be "fixed"....so yeah, take care of your stuff.

Sapphire....have you noticed that they have edited a lot of that Quizno's commercial with the talking oven? It's still too much.....

Now Burger King and the Star Trek promo???? holy cheese! What is wrong with these people? We're in a recession and they are spending money on ad campaigns like they are on crack!

No...I haven't seen any commercials lately. I had the TV on this afternoon, and I ended up muting it! It was a nice, unexpected afternoon off and I was enjoying my quiet time....ANYTHING would have to be an improvement, though. That talking oven was way over the top.
