My job is going to be relocating me from central Indiana to San Antonio in May. My company is located at the intersection of I-10 & I410 on the east side. So far we've only seen rentals that we like on the west side of San Antonio inbetween 1604 & I-410. So my communite would take me on HW-90 from West to East in the morning and East to West in the evening. How whould traffic be on this route during rush hour traffic?

Thank you,

Thank you,
I drive Hwy 90 that direction every day around 7-8am and 3-5pm and it's fine. 410 can get a little conjested and there's the occassional back-up or accident on 410, but you'll quickly learn that there's way more than one way to get anywhere around here.

Welcome to SA!

Barring an accident, US 90 generally is never congested, even in rush hours, so you shouldn't have any problems.

If I was going to be working on the east side of SA I would look for a place east of SA. You save a lot on gas. You will save a lot of time on your commute and there are some nice areas around the La Vernia Stockdale area where you can buy a lot that is about 2-3 acres and build a home on it. I drive from the southeast side of town to the northwest side of town every day on Hwy 90 and the traffic usually flows pretty well. The traffic going from west to east in the morning is backed up pretty regularly. The same thing is true in the evening going the other direction. Too many people are living west of town and trying to cummute into town and it is only going to get worse.

Highway 90 inside the loops seems to have more than its share of spectacular fatal accidents. I've never felt uneasy while driving on it, but I can count on one hand the number of times I'm on it per year.

How feasible would a commute down from Schertz/Selma be? If it's not a nightmare, that might be another place to go look.

Though I do second the La Vernia/Stockdale/China Grove area. I know a woman who married a farmer and moved to China Grove and is blissfully happy. She moved her kids to the East Central district and is way happier than when they were going to Judson. It's very pretty down there, in a different way than the west/northwest parts of San Antonio.

When I read that the OP was looking on the westside of town my first reaction was "yuck! and drive to the east side?" I already don't particular;y like the westside of town outside of 410 (but to each their own). I would recommend what a lot of the other posters have said, look around the 410/10 area and up towards the 1604/35 area. Converse is also a very nice area to rent.

The Randolph area is much like the Lackland area. Lots of people with lots of rentals. It shouldn't be hard to find one. That's more 1604/35. It's not a bad option.
