Texas De Brazil at the old Kress is pretty good, run you about $50 a plate but good. Fogo de Chao is just as good.

2. FUN atmosphere. Not stuffy! The more casual the better.

That's basically it. Problem is, #1 and #2 don't match up. It's hard to spend $100 a plate at a place where I won't look weird in jeans and a T-shirt. Also, it doesn't HAVE to be downtown, we're only really thinking there because it'll give us some options afterwards that we don't normally do. If someplace like the Pearl Brewery has some good after dinner options, that'd be just as good.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions that fit the two criteria above.
County Line (on the Riverwalk) is always good for my taste with a date,....

Well yeah, that is a bit of a contradiction, so you may have some issues, but you can enjoy a fabulous meal (not cheap, but not $100/plate and you can get by in nice jeans) at:

Bliss - Southtown
Feast - Southtown
Azuca - Southtown
The Monterey - Southtown (more tapas-style in that they're small portions, but you can easily order a lot)
Luke - Riverwalk
Il Sogno - Pearl

I don't think Bohanan's has a dress code, but could be wrong, and you can easily drop $100pp there. And there are more....

Happy Anniversary.

(Note - $$$ doesn't always equal quality, and it *really* depends on what you like and want - generally for $$$ you're paying for atmosphere as much as food.

I'd also at Biga on the Banks.

However, while you can get away with nice jeans and a nice shirt, why not dress up a bit for this special occasion?

It's just not our style, not something we enjoy doing. Actually, we specifically dislike dressing up. And since it's a special occasion, why do something we don't like to do?

That's reasonable, but then you might feel uncomfortable in many of the higher end restaurants, where attire is part of the atmosphere. That said, San Antonio is casual enough that you won't be too out of place, provided they're not torn jeans...
