Apparently that's only true if there's a stop sign. The stop signs are only on the N-S street, not the larger, more used E-W street. The cops do come out on the King WIlliam Fair day and ticket, but have so far ignored calls on other days. However the only technically illegal part is near the stop sign. On the other street - which is far more dangerous, apparently it's fair game until we get it officially a no parking zone.

Try looking at it from a different point of view.
Landscaping can afford you a lot of privacy. So can building a courtyard around the entrance to your home which will give you a private outdoor area.
Of course, you have to go along with the guidelines of your HOA if you have one, but a professional landscape contractor will know all the govt rules. Some will come out and give you some ideas and an estimate for free.
