I drove to Barnes and Noble at I10/DeZavala yesterday...only to find it closed. How sad.

That doesn't seem like a very convenient location. I understand how they couldn't have both stores though.

It's a super good location, right off of 10 & De Zavala? You just turn right into that shopping center. It's a major pain in the butt to have to go to La Cantera to go to B&N. The new B&N at La Cantera is just a two story version of the De Zavala B&N. They could have at least made it a bit bigger or offered something different there. It feels a lot like the Bandera & 1604 B&N. There isn't a lot of room for studying either like the 10 & De Zavala location had either. I don't know where they'll put their book events either.

I understand why, cost wise, why they couldn't have the two locations...but La Cantera is a big pain in the butt to go to just for Barnes and Noble. La Cantera is much more of an "outting place." Like shopping and everything.

The Fiesta Trails location felt more stand alone and you could run in and out. Yes, there is individual parking for the La Cantera B&N...but you still have to drive around the whole circle to get there. I would wander into the old Barnes and Noble while shopping at Marshall's and Target all the time.

Whatever, that's just my opinion. I just hope for the sake of Fiesta Trails something gets put in there soon. It's a huge empty space. Y'all can obviously tell I'm not happy about the move.

It did not 'move'. Some of my contacts in mgmt at the closed store lost their jobs. The one on NW Military was slated to open before christmas 2008 and then was pushed again and again it's now slated for spring 2010. I bet it backs out...

With everyone reading on Kindles and e-books being the latest and greatest thing, bookstores are drying up. It's a sad, sad time. Not to mention amazon.com killing the brick-and-mortars......not just bookstores, either.

But, but, you have to give those back! Says the girl who is $50 lighter after a short jaunt to Books-A-Million mere hours ago.

Sure, you have to give them back, but you can buy the ones you really really love. (Trust me. )

my people! Where have you been hiding? Here I thought I was one of the last ones to enjoy bookstores and libraries and reading material that did not have a .com after it. Sigh. I'm really not alone.

Just went to that new B & N at La Cantera and thought it seemed a bit smallish or cramped. I don't know, something seemed just...off. And not many chairs to sit down on either. Staff was very nice though and I like the location...that DeZavala center -- Double Ugh.
