Well it has been a very long time (35 years),
But I still remember the taste of First Mate Batter Fried Fish (More Like real chicken Fried style),
Of course they did not use just standard batter to make it so crunchy.

I am sure that after so many years all the southern Harlendale area farm land (what was the south edge of SA) is gone also.

The days of being in the Big City but living in the Country are gone now I guess.
Playing in the creeks (of course messing with the snakes and crawdads)
foolish kids things..

There are still plenty of creeks, but you wouldn't want to play in them

According to google, it was at 62 N.E. Loop 410 and it has been razed down. The faux lighthouse structure at the building was saved for some other place on canyon lake.

Hello crazedchef, how are you doing? My brother worked at the Christie's on San Pedro back in the 50's. He lives in San Deigo, but whenever he visited we always ate at Christie's and he loved the salad dressing.

A really good seafood restaurant in the area is Clear Springs Catfish restaurant in Clear Springs on 46, south of New Braunfels.

It was great Mexican seafood, wonderful fresh ingredients, served on foam plates with plastic silverware! Of course in time they moved and changed into a fine dining restaurant. I've been there a few times, but my early memories are the best
We moved here in '80 and have been eating at the Jackson Keller location once or twice a year since. There's very few other places still running that were here 30 years ago. Only thing that has changed are the menu prices-great place with very personable chef/owner!!!

There was a seafood restaurant at IH 35 north and Rittiman Rd. called the Light House. This was around '78. The building did actually have a functioning lighthouse structure, you could see it at night from quite a distance while driving north on I 35. The place didn't last very long, food was so-so and the service not so attentive. It is now an Asian restaurant.
