I am a Northside ISD Police Officer and I'll give you a little bit of info on requirements for employment with my PD. Since there's no academy, you'll need to be TCLOSE certified before they'll even look at your application and h Having a few years experience will help alot. We have a Campus Officer Division and a Patrol Officer Division. Campus Officers (2 or 3 at each HS & 1 at each MS) work on campus when school is in session. During the summer vacation, the campus officers move to patrol and the patrol officers are off for the summer. Campus Officers get Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Break and Spring Break off and work usually Monday - Friday with weekends off. Patrol Officers work 5 on with 2 during the school year (Aug - May). Our dept is 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Starting pay (I believe) is approx 36K, with the chance to work all the overtime you want. I'm retired USAF and this job is a great second career. If you want to kove up into a supervisory position - it doesn't happen very often. When someone puts on the stripes they don't leave. As already stated, some schools are worse than others but as a general statement - the work is pretty easy. If you want more info - drop me a line.

AHISD does not have a separate police department. Have you looked into the college departments? I know Incarnate Word has one. I suspect the others do also.

I would think some of the smaller municipalities would be a "cushy" police force to join.

Examples:
Hill Country Village
Hollywood Park
Shavano Park
