No thread highjacking. The OP suemandy23 thought the staff was "curt, abrupt and almost dismissive". I was merely relating my experience at Randolph and to infer that attitude might be emblematic of a cultural problem.

Now it is personal.

Yes, some naval pilots do land on carriers. Also, remember the carrier is turned into the wind and the aircraft is snatched out of the air. They do not land with enemy fire hindering their landings.

Air Force pilots land on a hard surface regardless of the wind direction and velocity, and in some occasions under enemy fire.

I believe this is a good point to remind members who this thread is supposed to be helping. Here's the original post:

Since there isn't a request in that post to offer opinions on which branch of the US military is best, that tangent isn't helping the OP, so let's end it now.

Navy pilots aren't snatched.....they have to catch that wire. If they miss that third wire they better pull up fast or their screwed, right?

So you're saying the AF pilots do deserve that that self imposed bravado? Just kidding with you....

Personal or not....I respect any pilot who can maneuver any kind of aircraft!.....including private and commercial. (worked for a commercial carrier years ago)

I personally don't hold any above another.....they all have heavy duty responsibility and I want them on MY side no matter what they are flying!
