Anybody know about Westwinds? I was looking at my City MDP (I have a PDF as well and I'll email it to anyone who wants a copy) for the area today and I noticed something I'd forgotten about. The area North of AR Pkwy (where the DR Horton and Meritage Homes and Kimball and Ryland are) is called "Westwinds" and the area south of AR Pkwy is "Alamo Ranch." I wonder if that will still play out or if everyone is going to grab onto the AR theme. From the looks of things, there is a sortof separation geographically, between the two areas with that big road and all.

Default Link to San Antonio MDP's

I found a reference to Westwinds in SAWS Board of Trustees meeting held on January 4, 2007:

A Resolution accepting the bid of Natgun Corporation, in the amount of $2,045,159.00 for the construction of a 2.0 MG storage tank in connection with the Alamo Ranch & Westwinds Tract; awarding a construction contract to Natgun Corporation, for the project work...

Here is a link to numerous MDP's in San Antonio:

I visited AR about a month ago (Newmark homes) and the sales rep there said something about some builders not actually being a part of AR but Westwinds. I also visited the Ryland community in AR. Does anyone out there have any trhoughts on Ryland as a builder?

I've been impressed with Ryland and some friends of ours have bought two new builds with them. They seem to have good quality and energy efficiency. The area of AR they have is quite nice, there are two "series", with some nice floorplans. I'll be out there tomorrow (touring Kimball Hill, which is right next to them) and can collect any info on them that you need. Just send me a quick PM.

And AirForceDoc and SteelMan, I'll try and collect more info while out there. Only gonna be there for a short time, but I love "fact finding missions"!!!

Interesting.

The Meritage/Medallion sub-division is called "The Hills at Alamo Ranch"
D.R. Horton is called "Riverstone at Alamo Ranch".

False marketing perhaps?

It wouldn't surprise me. I've seen Westwinds always referred to as the area north of Alamo Ranch Parkway and south of Culebra but new home builders lump it in with Alamo Ranch. Northside ISD has a new elementary planned for that area with the new Bond 2007 election and it's referred to as "Westwinds Elementary". Just more reason to believe that Westwinds will eventually be defined as separate from Alamo Ranch over time..especially if NISD zones that area away from the new Potranco West High where most of AR south of the parkway will probably attend.

This might be the link below that AFDoc was speaking about that clearly shows the areas north of AR Pkway as being Westwinds and all areas to the south as AR. The map is sideways so north is to the right and west is at the top.

I was told today that there was a subsequent revision of 450 acres. Does anyone have any info on this revision?

First time I hear of this. We live in Riverstone @ Alamo Ranch and our appraisal documents and the title have Alamo Ranch.

No where does it mention Westwinds.

As I mentioned, this revision extended "Alamo Ranch" to include an additional 450 acres.
