My wife and I were doing some shopping today, we saw this cute dog all alone in this SUV. Windows UP, no A/C (car wasn't running). We must have been there 15 minutes. When we left, the owner was apparently still in the store.

Who leaves their pet in their vehicle without ventilation or A/C for an extended period of time? A pet sitter nonetheless!

We tried calling the number for the business, but no answer.

This was in NW San Antonio. I wouldn't want to be in that vehicle with the windows rolled up for more than a few minutes- that's for sure!

I am all about taking care of my dogs, but it couldn't have been more than about 75deg at that time today and still mostly cloudy. So I don't think heat is an issue here. However someone could easily steal the dog if they wanted which is where I would take issue with this "dog sitter".

There was no "dog sitting" going on at all in this picture. The people paid to take care of the dogs were MIA and clearly not doing their job. Moreover, the dog's safety surely wasn't guaranteed alone in the car (heat or not). Absolutely pathetic.

Yea, it WAS more than 75 degrees. Why don't you go sit in your vehicle with your windows rolled up and no A/C for about 20 minutes and tell me how you like it!

"On a warm, sunny day windows collect light, trapping heat inside the vehicle, and pushing the temperature inside to dangerous levels. On an 85-degree day, for example, the temperature inside a car with the windows opened slightly can reach 102 degrees within 10 minutes. After 30 minutes, the temperature will reach 120 degrees. At 110 degrees, pets are in danger of heatstroke. On hot and humid days, the temperature in a car parked in direct sunlight can rise more than 30 degrees per minute, and quickly become lethal."

Pets and heat safety - 6/06/08 - Flint News and Saginaw News - abc12.com (http://abclocal.go.com/wjrt/story?section=weather/doppler&id=6189279 - broken link)

So has anybody called the number on the car?

I did a google search and had no luck finding the people, it is in kerville from phone record searches.

I would have never thought of taking a picture and posting it, but Kudos for doing that!

City-Data has a lot of posters and lurkers... I still would like to see this one on the news.

Again Kudos for the smart thinking, and the courage to get involved.
