You might want to split off to I-35W (as in I-35 West) before you get into the metroplex. Then, once you get into North Fort Worth, take 820 to 183 East and then go 121 until you get to 635 and go East until you get to 35E again.

I know, it sounds like a maze of numbers and all but given that Texas/OU weekend is practically in downtown Dallas, I don't know if the traffic there would be very good. You'd be taking the longer route for sure going through FW but it "might" be worth it. I say it "might" be worth it but it might not.

To be honest with you, I've never ventured over into Dallas on TU/OU weekend, so I couldn't tell you if the traffic is that horrific or not.

Good luck and above all, have a SAFE trip!

35 to (quick minute on 30) 75, then you are in Richardson.

Has taken Hubby and I 4 1/2 hours "and up" to get to that area of Dallas. Closer to 5 1/2 is more reasonable depending on where exactly in Richardson - I am just ball parking 75 and Arapaho.

Take 281 N through Johnson City...Marble Falls...Lampassas...you'll be on it for a while. At Hico, go east on Hwy 6 and then North on Hwy 220. 220 will take you to 67 and then you'll go east on 67. This Hwy will take you into Cleburn and if you keep going you'll cut across 20 and then it will feed you into 35E just south of downtown Dallas. It really doesn't take much longer than 35, especially considering that you're already on 281.

I go to dallas every year for the UT-OU game, and found that 281 is the better route. Less traffic.

Yes, you are correct. I was thinking of the $1.00 processing fee (probably because my husband whined about it so much the last time). But really, it is worth the $6.00+ to avoid Austin traffic!
