You should've just put t up on E-Bay once you knew what you had. Husband dabbles with precious metals and tells me that people overpay constantly on E-Bay for metals, even scrap, because they have no local access. Easy to ship too.

Another reason not to believe what is advertised on TV

I did a bit of internet searching and I believe sometimes you get quoted less than the price gold is valued at (at whatever given time), is because of the purity--I think that mint gold coins for instance, are 99.(something)% pure and have the value you see gold as being priced at. 10K, 12K, 14K, 18K, 22K, etc are all mixed with other substances so they are devalued accordingly, it's not just merely their weight. I think 14K gold was like 50-something % of whatever gold is priced at today- I'm sure y'all knew that, but for anyone who didn't, I thought I'd share I have a mint gold coin and I'm hanging on to it just because it seems like overall the value of gold keeps shooting up, so unless you're in dire need of some cash, you may want to hang on to it a bit and see if you can't get a little more!

Just this morning, I sold a 14k gold necklace and a ring that I found metal detecting last winter.....took it to Stone Oak Jewelers on the corner of 1604 and Stone Oak . Couldn't have dealt with nicer people, and they gave me a lot more than what I was hoping for. They even gave me the stones that were in the ring back! I took it to one of those places that are inside a few of the HEB stores first, and their estimate was a little more than half of what I recieved at the jewelry store. While I was waiting, I took a look around, and they have many unique and beautiful things there. (have my eye on a really nice watch ) Their # is (210) 403-3900.

Jewelry Exchange and Auction are in the same area and were very friendly. They even beat my highest competitor's quote on my items. A+

The next bubble to burst. Lets see - Internet Stocks, then Real Estate...now gold will be next. Great time to sell, but anyone trying to make a safe investment in gold right now is crazy!

It will take 1 fat cat like Gold Finger or some small country to sell off their hoard of gold and prices will take a nose dive.

Seriously. I've been really considering finding out how much a gold necklace and some earrings I never wear are worth...the price is just becoming too high to resist.

Been trying to convince the wife of the same, but many are heirloom pieces, so I doubt they'll get sold. I ain't gonna complain, though - she lets me collect my guns, so it's all good!
