I am currently in the process of getting my wedding finances in order but I am far from reaching that goal. Can anyone advise me of where the best place would be to get a loan say about 5,000 dollars in San Antonio TX. I do not have anything as collateral also. I have attempted applications at Security Service Federal Credit Union and USAA. We do not want to risk getting a cash advance loan from one of the pawn places. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

agree...marriage is tough enough without adding the stress of debt on top of it. Go to city hall or hold off on the wedding until you've saved up the dough.

I got married at City Hall and once we are more comfortable maybe in a few years we will have an actual wedding, but if you really want to take out a loan, have you tried BOA or maybe a credit card? I have never gotten a loan from SA so I really wouldn't know. Sorry.

Try some of the credit unions: Firstmark, Generations, Randolph Brooks. They have some personal loans you can use for any reason.
I strongly suggest not using loans for wedding expenses because you will more than likely have other expenses pop up once you say I do. I did mine for $1k and we did the Marriage Island downtown and then rented a party room at the now closed Karam's and it worked out wonderfully.

Don't go into debt! It's not worth it!

Either save your money then do it or do it without all the expense......

He said that he do not have anything as collateral. Do banks still give loans for looking pretty?? No wonder the economy is where it is.....

yeah honey I am sorry to say i dont think your going to be able to find someone to finance you in this economy with no collateral especially. Maybe you should try saving a little more $$$ before opting for a loan. In the end it will be worth not having the debt of a wedding hanging over your head.

And stay the hell away from any cash advance place. That'll be the worst mistake you ever make, and your marriage will likely end up in shambles over financial issues. Don't start off like that. One of the BEST weddings I've ever attended was in someone's back yard, bunch of friends, bbq and a stereo system. As long as you have friends/loved ones around, you'll remember it for the rest of your life. The setting doesn't matter. Neither do any of the "upsells" that a lot of wedding places sell you.

I agree. Get your friends and family to help with the food, keg of beer(If needed) and flowers, etc. Maybe a friend or family member who's an amateur photographer. You'll be a lot happier in the long run.
