How much of hill country is in the San Antonio area? I recall a lot of it near austin and some in San Antonio. Would you say SA is in the middle of hill country or the edges? Thanks.

There are some areas with great views and hills in N and NW SA, but I'd say the Hill Country REALLY starts at the Hwy 46 area. Drive 46 for a while and you'll really see what the Hill Country is all about.

Just GORGEOUS land.

San Antonio sits astride the transition from the South Texas Brush country and the Edwards Plateau.
"The Hill Country reaches into portions of the two major metropolitan areas of Central Texas, especially in San Antonio's northern suburbs and the western half of Travis County, ending just west of downtown Austin."

It starts around the Helotes area, and some of the communities on the NW side of 1604 such as those along Kyle Seale could be considered in the foothills of the Hill Country. Perhaps portions of Stone Oak as well...

The "Hill Country" around San Antonio is mostly an urban landscape these days. You can catch glimpses of it here and there but it is disappearing fast. The gem that was once our pride is being pawned for quick cash. One day our aquifer will be among the fatalities I fear.

Northside ISD is one of those districts in San Antonio. You'll have to look into individual schools to see where the best ones are.

That's one of the districts we're looking at (the other is NEISD). We're still narrowing down the high schools in the area.

Up the northwest corridor (I-10) that sits in the Hill Country, there are 2 high schools in Boerne - Boerne High School and Boerne Champion in the Boerne ISD. In Northside ISD, the areas that are in the Hill Country are served by Brandeis High School and Clark High School.

And O'Connor High School, which is less than 2 miles west of Brandeis but serves Helotes, far NW San Antonio and points north on Bandera Rd (Hwy 16) towards Pipe Creek and small parts of Bandera County...Scenic Loop Rd is also in its zone up to near Boerne Stage Rd. It's very hilly as well with beautiful homes/neighborhoods taking advantage of the great views looking south toward San Antonio.
