el Chaparral came to my mind, too.

Hacienda is always more crowded when I drive by.

Someone here has spoken highly of Meson, but I haven't tried it.

Some people get confused about which Los Barrios they're reviewing. The service at the old, original, Los Barrios can be awful. However, I have been to La Hacienda 30-40 times and never had a poor experience. We hit La Hacienda for all spring/summer birthdays.

I personally do notrecommend Meson. My husband and I went several months ago and the food was not at all good, especially given all the other great choices in the area.

Ounce Steakhouse is one of our favorites. Their Applewood Smoke Bacon Mac and Cheese is amazing! Ask for Mark as your server he makes the meal even more memorable.

Welcome to Ounce Prime Steakhouse - San Antonio

I agree w/Aldinos...great Italian food, nice setting but not too stuffy. El Chapparal is yummy but haven't been to that location, only Helotes. Silo is nearby (Stone Oak) and is more up market (seafood).

Aldaco's at the corner of Stone Oak and Hardy Oak. Sit outside on the patio - awesome views. Have never been disappointed by their food.

IF you want Tex Mex then go to Aldacos or LA Hacienda.

If you want Mexican go to Cielito Lindo.

IF you want up scale and nice wine selection go to Coco. (the duck crepe is amazing)

I think this is your answer.

I second whoever said haven't had bad experiences at la hacienda. Been there at least 50 times and may have had sub par service 2 of those trips.
