Just saw this on News 4 WOAI. I wanted to confirm this so I just got off the phone with Yellowcab.

The representative said that the cab is free .....

*Up to $25.00 with NO stops in between.

*You must be picked up at a fiesta event (she mentioned Market Square, the carnival) and of course NIOSA counts.

*Also, it is only valid from 12 PM to 11PM.

YellowCab's number is simple and most of you probably know it already but for those who don't: 222-2222.

This is awesome. SPREAD THE WORD!

That's some good info. I hope someone uses it (maybe it'll keep a drunk from driving) . Thanks for posting.

I did a search on WOAI's website, but came up empty. However, in past years this service has been limited to individuals that drove themselves to a Fiesta event, and then became inebriated. Unless something has changed, you have to show signs of being intoxicated to get the free ride home.

Wrong. One time I took a cab ride from near Airport area to downtown and it was about $15 to $20. It'll get you far enough. But if you're looking for a cab ride all the way across town, of course it's going to be more.

I searched WOAI's website last night before I posted this and they didn't have it either which is why I called Yellowcab last night in the first place and also to get all the relevant information.

KABB does have it on their site >>

Free Cab Rides To & From Fiesta
TXDOT, Yellow Cab, and Silver Eagle Distributors are teaming up to take party-goers who've had too much drink home. It's part of a new program called Plan Ahead, Choose Your Ride-San Antonio. You can call Yellow Cab for a ride to a Fiesta event or to be taken home from one through Saturday. The rides will be free for residents who live near downtown San Antonio. The program will cover up to $25.00 for your fare home if you live farther from the area. Organizers believe it will help cut down on alcohol-related accidents. TXDOT officials say 239 alcohol related crashes took place last April in San Antonio and most of them occurred during the week of Fiesta.Free Cab Rides To & From Fiesta
