Area code 726 will be added as an overlay to the existing 210 area code in October 2017. This means that starting next March, we'll need to start dialing all 10 digits for local calls (area code + phone number.)

Welcome to the real world, San Antonio. I wonder what Jeff Davis will do with all his crap printed with all 4's? "All you need to remember is 4!....<mumble> and 210.."

And the yellow cab number. 222-2222. I guess that will have two area codes now.

All of the numbers I have programmed in to my cell phone (the only phone I use) have the area code already. I don't make many calls at work but I think the 3 extra digits will be OK, we'll all be OK.

The new area code has an interesting coincidence: on the phone keypad, 726 spells out "SAN". So, whoever gets the number 726-268-6646 will have the phone number "SAN-ANT-ONIO".

I wonder if some businesses will try to have same number under same area code? Such as an ad stating you can call us at 210-111-1111 or 726-111-1111?

You know...Austin has two area codes and I rarely come across the other...736 I believe. If that's any indication it will take lots more growth and lots more phone numbers to be where Dallas is with its 214/972 or Houston's 281/832 level.
