Hello Everybody,

Thank you for taking the time to read.

I am relocating from San Diego for a job transfer in Rancho Mirage. Not to excited about leaving SD but it is a nice career move.

Anyhoot as you can imagine the heat is not really my thing and it is my biggest concern so I have been thinking of living in the Mtn's (idyllwild perhaps) and commuting in.

It also looks like their are small commuties in the park that dont seem as far as Idyllwild but I cant seem to find any info on them.

Does anyone do this? Is this a crazy person talk?

Thanks so much!

Just up Hwy. 74 are some small towns, not as far away as Idyllwild. I know Pinyon Pines is one of them, can't remember the other names. Only about 15 to 20 minutes away from Palm Desert, so maybe 25-30 from RM, and about 20 degrees cooler than the desert.

I do it all the time, as does my wife. We live near the Sugarloaf, just off of HWY 74. A commute from that area to Rancho Mirage in general, like Twinkle Toes said, is gonna run a bit under 30 minutes.

Driving up/down the hill at first can be a "omg!" experience, but it'll become second nature in no time. If you have any questions about the area, feel free to PM.
