Hello everyone! I was offered a job as a Children's Social Services Worker for the County of Riverside starting in May 2014. I currently do the same job for the County of San Diego but housing prices here are CRAZY! Furthermore, I want to be closer to my family who live in Moreno Valley. I will be working out of the Hemet CPS office which is located on San Jacinto Ave. I am undecided on whether I should live in Moreno Valley, San Jacinto or Hemet? I have read awful things about all three places. I'm not so sure it would be such a good idea to live in Hemet since the clients I will be working with live in Hemet/San Jacinto. You know I don't want to run into them at the local grocery store, etc. especially if they're hostile. I like the housing prices in Hemet and the easy commute to and from work. What should I do? Also, I live in a "rough" part of San Diego (Shelltown) so that is not a huge deal. I currently pay $1450/month for a tiny 3 bedroom 1 bath house. Thanks!

Don't live in Moreno Valley, it's unnecessarily too far.
To get to San Jacinto Ave from the 215 freeway is a red light/green light surface street pain

There's good neighborhoods in both Hemet and San Jacinto and surrounding area. You just have to look and stay out of the core of the cities.
Check north San Jacinto up by the College.
South Hemet amongst the senior communities.
West side of Hemet - housing developments on Cottonwood, west of Lyon.
There's lots of places outside city limits also. Lots of country.
Nuevo is good, but impossible to find rentals.
There's a housing development on Ramona Blvd across from the fairgrounds - mailing address is Perris, but the development is safe and nice. This would be a good medium point between your new work and your family in Moreno Valley.

If you are working for the county, you're liable to bump into clients from all over the valley. Yeah, a lot of them will be from Hemet, but I wouldn't let that deter me from living there if the deal was good.

Well San Jacinto/Hemet will be cheaper than Moreno Valley, and less of a commute. And the commute does eventually get old - I commute to Moreno Valley. It depends on what you want if you want easier access to shopping and restaurants I would say Moreno Valley + Riverside area. Not that SJ/Hemet doesn't have that but you won't have as many options.
