I've lived in Scottsdale/Phoenix area and am now thinking of moving to the Palm Desert/Coachella Valley area. Can anyone give me a short list of the differences?
THanks.

Palm Desert and surrounding cities are not as big as the Phoenix metro. I don't know a lot about Scottsdale, although I do own properties in the Phoenix metro. Having been to the phoenix area, I would choose Palm Desert over the Phoenix metro - any day! Palm Desert is clean, safe and close to the things I like to do. What can I say - there's no place like home!

differences Palm Desert to Scottsdale- main one is that Palm Desert is more seasonal than Scottsdale - Scottsdale used to be seasonal alot - now its partly seasonal but you have a larger population of working professionals there now - PD is more retired - although there are some families- its hard to compare the two because Scottsdale is much more of a 'happening' city because of your location to Phoenix- you have more culture, more shopping, more universities, colleges etc. nearby - if you are wanting 'more to do' and a bit more 'buzz' in life - Scottsdale/Phoenix area would be my preference -- here its pretty, quieter in general, and an older population, but you do have the ocean less than 2 hours away!

That whole "retired" thing is a myth. There are lots of families and working people in Palm Desert, myself included. Sure, we have retirees, but they aren't the majority anymore.

Your best bet would be to visit both cities then decide---------they are only 4 hours apart by car.

Which one? Deep Canyon? Monterey? Washington? I probably know which one you shopped that was like a nursing home and I can tell you why.

Yeah, the Monterey location is near all the assisted living places. Plus you have EMC down the road too.
