Hey I was wondering if i can get some help on finding a nice, and safe area to live in san bernandino area. I was raised in san diego and moved to VA. Now I'm moving back and I know about the the gangs in CA. I have I have a husband and 3 kids, I'm trying to stay away from the ghettos. He would be Stationed in colton and I will be working in ontario. I'm willing to travel about 45min to work but I don't know where to live. Sometimes I think why did we pick Cali. Can someone give me advice in where to live out there?

I am a Realtor in the Riverside County area and have to say that there are a number of places in that area that are "ghetto". I usually operate in the Temecula/Murrieta/Menifee/Hemet area. Stay away from Moreno Valley, definitely not a good area. I have heard that Ontario is nice. If you are interested in moving down toward Menifee (32 miles) shoot me an email.

Redlands. I moved to Redlands about 20 years ago. The only other place I would consider living is La Jolla...and I can't afford a nice house there.
Redlands has Thursday Market Night.
Redlands has the Summer Bowl Festival
Redlands has the neatest library
Redlands has good restaurants.
Redlands has the annual bicycle classic.
Redlands has State Street.
Redlands is one hour from winter skiing.
Redlands is one hour from summer beaches.
Redlands is one hour from Palm Springs.
Redlands is .... the best!
South Redlands is nicer than North Redlands--more expensive too.

Okay, there are a few good places close to Ontario and Colton:

N. San Bernardino, South Colton, N. Moreno Valley, Reche Canyon, NW Ontario, Redlands, Loma Linda, Grand Terrace, N. Fontana, and Rancho Cucamonga.

Considering price and travel time between the two:

N. San Bernardino, South Colton (Cooley Ranch), N.W. Moreno Valley, Reche Canyon, NW Ontario, Grand Terrace, N. Fontana, Loma Linda, and Redlands.

So if I were you, i'd check out Cooley Ranch, Reche Canyon, Ontaio, N. Fontana. N. San Bernadino, Loma Linda, and W. Redlands.

Default Good places in the inland empire

Temecula and Murrietta are nice, but they are pretty much still in the middle of nowhere if you don't have a job out there. The 215 is not a nice commute. Redlands is very nice, quaint older neighborhoods and decent schools. Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga have the Etiwanda school district and is close to alot of industry. Ontario has some very nice neighborhoods, but be very picky in that you visit the areas in the evenings. Riverside and Moreno Valley also have some very nice areas. Canyon Crest in Riverside and wood streets are close to the freeway and a great community. Moreno valley 60 fwy bottlenecks even after the freeway has been completed, I would not want that commute for anything.
