Brief intro...... I'm a junior in college... 20 years old, turn 21 in a couple of months. Where I'm from (MD), a lot of kids go to Ocean City, MD to live and work for the summer. Me and my buddy recently got the idea that we want to mix it up and move out to San Diego to live and work for the summer. I think it would be a blast.

My question is, is it common for college kids to live and work in SD for the summer. Are there places specifically hiring college kids for the summer. Places that are renting to college kids for the summer?

I think it would be amazing to come out west with my best friend and spend a whole summer working and chillin in a great city like SD

Take a number. As far as getting a "summer job" in SD, if you're comfortable submitting your resume and competing with 100+ other locals for a job that pays $7.25/hr then come out here. Did I mention, you won't find a one bedroom apartment in a decent area for less than $800/month?

If you could even get a job, which is unlikely in San Deigo just for the summer, the amount you could make wouldn't even pay your rent or hardly.

I grew up in the DC/MD/VA area, and also worked in Ocean City during the summer when I was in high school. But it's not like that here.

My bad, so if you work full time, that's an extra $30 per week. That's enough for a full tank of gas!

You wont find work. You know nothing about the situation here. It's sound like you just came to visit. It is a white collar town. Employers don't even like to hire college students. Try Key West
