Finally comming back home in May after 20 years and have looking at the Padre Gardens. I remember when I was a kid they looked OK. Anyone know how they are now?

I lived there after moving back in late 2008. The price was right and I love that area of MV. The actual apartments are showing their age but nothing that can't be gotten past. Parking can be a problem so I would suggest paying a little extra for an underground garage spot or an external garage. one other thing-- I had it out with the manager during the move out inspection as they are VERY picky. I had the place professionally cleaned and they still were't satisfied with the cleanliness of the unit. Recommend taking photos and documenting all discrepancies at move- in.

Wow, I lived there 16 years ago -- thanks for the memory!

We too had the place professionally cleaned after we moved out. They told us we'd be charged for a full cleaning or a half cleaning. It was immaculate when we left but they still charged us for the full cleaning. Some things never change.

There are many other condo buildings close to the Padre gardens. I recommend walking around the area and seeing if you can score a private rental with a condo owner ... that way, if you have a good raport with the land lord, I'm sure they won't be anal during the move out unless you trash the place.

Some that come to mind in that general area are:
- Mission Verde
- Mission Plaza
- Prado*
- Mission Playmor
- Rancho Mission Villas*
- Mission Ridge

* Are rental property apartments, all others are properties that are privately owned and rented by their owners.
