I had been planning on buying a small condo when I move to S.D. while the prices are low. And found a few very small ones around 100k in decent areas from S.Park to Oceanside. Most have HOA fees of $200-350 and that is for a 500-600sq ft apt-type condo.

But then I discovered these really nice over 55 parks in nice areas with gorgeous pools, jacuzzis, etc. where you can buy a 1500sq ft remodeled older mobile home and the space it sets on for under 100k. You actually have room to breath and feel you are living in a home, instead of a converted apt building. With no space rent of 500-800 dollars which most mobile parks charge, one can live pretty cheap with your home paid for and property taxes each year of only 300 dollars or so, and a HOA fee to keep up the grounds, pools, and such of less than $150.

Sure seems better for me than being stuck in a tiny apt with neighbors crammed up next to you, especially when half of the condos are rented to people who come and go constantly.

Anyone here have any experience with these own your own space/mobile homes or live in one themselves?

WOW! So what did you decide on the trailer park, in town or further out?

It will in the North County area, either Oceanside or maybe Escondido. Whichever park I decide is the nicest. As long as I can drive to the beach or get to downtown S.D. in 30 minutes or so when I need to. Living near the train will be nice to.

Getting a big mobile with so much room, I could always rent out half the home and have a lot more money besides my $1100 a month disability check to live on, take a cruise or two each year, or whatever.

How cool is that! Since we are raising our grandson. I don't see any economical good housing deals like that for us. We will probably end up in North County, but probably in one of the Ranchos or Carmel Valley.
Great for you!

There are at least 3, 4, or 5 in North County. None in SD proper that I know of. I think I have seen at least 1 or 2 that are family parks, but I don't pay any attention to those. Most are for 55 and over.

Here is who you need to contact. He and his wife deal in them: Retire in North San Diego County- Highly Rated Among The Best Retirement Places and have lots of great info on mobile home buying and selling. Give him and his wife a call if you want to. I did.

BOD can you give names and addresses of these places you mention? It all sounds really good.Generalities don't do much good though.

Zombie thread. He hasn't been on here for 7 years, so you might want to start your own thread.

Looking for a family park in a safe area in El Cajon, Point Loma or lemon Grove. Would like a place close to public transportation, trolley preferably.
