While I have heard from many locals that there are rarely any shark attacks off the SD coast, I was wondering what types of sharks are known to inhabit our coastal waters ? ............. Are there any shark sightings in the SD Bay ?

If you live here, I'm surprised that you didn't hear about the attack off Solana Beach. That was huge news everywhere.

That said, the leopard sharks are back at La Jolla Shores. If you have the nerve, try swimming among them, it's pretty exciting.

Here's a youtube like of the the experience. Those suckers can be 5 feet long. Oh, and I just checked the water temp at Scripps Pier and it says it's 72.9 degrees - yippee!!

Great Whites and old Makos are pretty much all we worry about here. Sometimes we get a big ol grumpy blue and in El Nino years a large hammer head but whitey is the worry here.

Stay away from the new fast food stop aka childrens/seals pool.
