......potential interview upcoming in the next month. Anyone have personal experience with kids/ self going through the schools? Anyone teach there and love it, hate it, don't care either way?

Websites make everything look great, but people know what happens in and out each day.

I know that it's a charter school, and they're very picky about who they hire. I think they also let some of the students interview you, also.

Yep, they do. My wife teaches at one of the schools under the High Tech banner. She enjoys it - - likes the diversity of students (there are lotteries for the student population so you can get kids from La Jolla and Tijuana River Valley in the same class). She likes the project-based curriculum which allows for more creativity from the students.

While there are some problems with students (my wife has had to deal with a couple students who had alcohol on their breath, sexting, etc), she's never talked about any incidents of violence and the kids seem much more accepting of one another than the schools that she or I went to when we were that age.

THanks. Yeah, it sounds like it is very project-based, which is great. They're opening 2 new schools for next year.

Chula Vista and North County? I remember my wife talking about that some time ago. I wonder if they will still be doing raffles for those areas and where they will draw from.

Yes, I just spoke with someone in Admissions, and depending on your home address, they will try and match you to the closest school site, once you're selected via lottery. I think that's what I heard. I believe there will be at least ones new school in Eastlake area.
