Which community college has the most available classes? I am trying to transfer in two years without any hiccups. I do not care about the social aspects or sports. So far from what I've seen is that Mira Costa has the most available classes. But I really want to make it sure.

So if you have an opinion please post, it can change my decision.

I am also wondering on peoples opinion on San Diego city college and Grossmont College.

Thanks

I would pick MiraCosta. I've heard from the other CCs that MiraCosta gets some of their funding from the local community, so they're not as prone to the budget cuts that we're experiencing right now as discussed in: //www.city-data.com/forum/san-d...ut-summer.html

There's also a Cardiff campus: MiraCosta College - San Elijo Campus

MiraCosta is the one to go for. Palomar had to cut 50% of their summer offerings in English to avoid larger cuts in the fall and spring (they are cutting 3% then) - - usually English is the classes they cut last, so that's a bad sign for other disciplines. I think City College was the same or worse. MiraCosta is adding a modest 1% gain in classes next year, but that looks huge in comparison to the rest of the schools.

Do you have a car? If so, Carlsbad might be a good choice to live - - it's inbetween the two campuses.

Mesa College is the largest community college in the county so it will undoubtedly have the most open classes.

Actually, that is not true. The San Diego Community College district has drastic cutbacks due to the budget. Their class offerings are not what they were even 2 years ago.

Your best bet is MiraCosta, as they get 80% of their funding from property tax, not the state. So when other schools are cutting, MiraCosta can actually expand, like a previous poster mentioned.

I didn't know that. Back in the 90's Mesa was the place to go.

In support of your point, however, if a student enrolls in the San Diego Community College District (which includes Mesa), they can enroll at any of the schools in that district (Mesa, Miramar and City). And combined, those three schools probably have more available classes than MiraCosta.
