Husband and i are moving to SD soon and we'll be working near Miramar College and Sorrento Valley. (Mira Mesa Blvd, near 15 and 805 fwys)
We're currently living near norwalk and paying 900 rent. from the looks of it, that's not happening in Sorrento Valley
anyone know what the equivalent neighborhood in la would be?
can probably afford to go around 1200-1400 now, but would obviously appreciate something lower. what are some good places to check out near that area?
we're looking for someplace quiet, with a decent commute (i'd love to say goodbye to my hour commutes), safe area, within reasonable distance of grocery stores & those essentials. a park and public transit access would be nice, but not a must.

It sounds like you want Mira Mesa as it is immediately adjacent to both Sorrento Valley & Miramar plus it will be the best bet for affordable housing in that part of town.
