Please, share your thoughts about great school in the city, prefarrably public , will concider catholic or other private if in a lively, walkable area, maybe like Mission Hills. My doughter is a 6th grader, we have moved around from Portlan Maine, via Ventura finaly San Diego. I should add 30 years in Gdansk, Poland. I would like her to grow in a stimulating, challanging, and friendly city envirnoment.
Thank you , Beata

Where will you be working? Are you renting or buying? What's your budget?

You're probably better off with a private school in the urban areas. "Urban, walkable community" isn't usually associated with great public schools in San Diego.

Completely agree. I don't know of any urban walkable area with great schools. I've lived here 22 years.

There are some good schools but they do not tend to be in walkable areas...then again San Diego does not have that many great, safe, walkable urban areas that I've found. Pockets yes...a nice solid set of choices not in my experience. You are typically sacrificing something (like a little safety!) to get walkability at all.

If money isn't a problem you could live pretty much anywhere in San Diego and send your daughter to Francis W. Parker for school. They have buses that take students to and from school from all over San Diego. Here's their site: Francis Parker School - San Diego, CA - JK-12 preparatory school . Your daughter could attend through high school graduation if you wanted.

If you want walkability you might want to consider Coronado or La Jolla. I don't know that you'd consider them urban per se, but both are walkable.
