Our local parrot here in PQ hangs out with the crows. His name is "Watermelon". Been here for years.

They're back!!! This morning was the first time this year I had to endure the loud squawking of several flocks of parrots. In my mind, the incessant squawking of these birds means that it's almost the fall season in SD.

I've always wondered where they go all summer long...?

Nice thread necro!

And yes, we have parrots all over the county, all year 'round.

Had 8 of the green squawkers making a racket in a ficus, in my backyard...

I love parrots. We had a blue fronted amazon for 27 years. He was a character, very destructive to anything he could chew on, but still fun. We also had wild parrots who flew over twice a day (San Gabriel Valley, near Pasadena Ca.). He would shout to them. We recently moved to San Diego, our parrot passed a few years before, but we were so happy to hear the wild parrots fly over. They roost in the neighborhood a couple of weeks two or three times a year. Noisy as heck. But I enjoy it.

Must depend on the part of San Diego you're in. Parrots for us in PB come in in early spring. They've actually stayed longer around us than normal, although the greatest numbers always seem to be from March to May.

Used to see the big groups of green ones all the time in Hillcrest/North Park. I've always thought they're a cool addition to the more urban atmosphere of those areas. About the only thing I see regularly now are mourning doves, black phoebe and house finches.
