Greetings! My family and I live in CT and are considering moving to Southern California. My husband lived for 26yrs in San Francisco and we have endured enough of the New England life. I've been here my whole life and need a change of scenery.
We are thinking of San Diego and surrounding areas, and are looking for good cities to relocate to.
We have 5 small children and are looking for a reasonable house rental. (1500-2000) for a 4 bed.
Any suggestions?
Oh, and I understand that 1500-2000 might be a pipedream,( so I would like to avoid the slap in the face, thanks!) but it can't hurt to ask. And on Zillow, and realtor.com Iam finding places for this price, however I am unfamiliar with the cities that these homes are located in.
What areas are good, bad, indifferent around the San Diego area?
thansk for your input!

I love Ramona--a small country town in San Diego County. Check out the MLS. The prices are much more affordable than most of the county because it's a little remote. But it's a beautiful rurual environment close to the city. Great family community with horses and all types of farm animals. Wonderful healthy place to raise 5 kids. 70% of the working people who live in Ramona drive into San Diego for work.

San Diego county is very large. About 4500 sq miles.

No one likes long commute times. It would be very hard for anyone to give you meaningful housing informaton without some idea of your work location within the county.

San Diego county is roughly the size and shape of CT

Imagine that there are 10,000 ft peaks along the Connecticut River, and everything east of that to RI is a desert.

And there is a beautiful, public coastline along the NY border

In the city itself? This city is a little different. It starts at the Mexican border and goes all the way up to Escondido, which is a half hour drive from the city core.

If you're working in the city itself and driving from Ramona, that'd be one ***** of a commute.

There's about a 35 miles difference between those two places.

You will get a lot more bang for your buck living in Murrieta, but it gets very hot in the summer months.
