Someone once explained to me why those letters get filtered here but I can't remember now.

I agree most would prefer to see someone attractive telling them what tomorrow's forecast will be vs. someone goofy that may have a few decades worth of experience. They're just reading off of teleprompter anyway... right?

Yes, I'm kidding.

However, when we moved here 18 years ago it seemed as if most of the weather journalists were serious and professional. About ~10+ years ago there seems to have been a swing toward attractive young ladies or super nutty men. As for the women, it is almost like watching those Latin news programs where they always have to look attractive on TV. I think that this is at least borderline sexist.

In SoCal, at least for me, weather analysis is not that important. Plus, I can get all the 'serious' weather info on the internet with a few clicks of the mouse.

For most other parts of the continent, weather interpretation is much more critical (e.g., tornado watch vs. warning).

I totally agree. I'd think this is one of the easier places around the world to be a weather person. You know the old saying....one of the easiest jobs to be wrong half the time and still get paid. However, here in San Diego at least they have a good shot when predicting sunny skies. LOL.

LOL yup. When there is a real weather event happening here, you really get to see who the real gamers are here.

Jenkay,

I saw you mentioned a few times you minored in it or you had a double major. I was just curious, do you do anything related with that degree? Or is there anything you can use that degree towards? I was just really curious about what you could use that for or what you planned to use it towards. I've never ever met anyone that majored/minored in that degree and was super curious about the applications of that degree.
