We have a few clothes lines and they are very handy, especially for airing out tents and sleeping bags after camping, or towels after an afternoon at the beach.

No HOA.

Everywhere we've lived in SD county didn't allow clotheslines. I hang a fair amount of things in the bathroom using one of these things and plastic hangers. I've found that anything with elastic or non-natural fabric seems to age more gracefully if it doesn't go in the dryer.

We spent 3 years in Japan (where line drying is the norm) and I really miss being able to line dry certain things - mostly jeans and sheets. I grew up in the rural Midwest and have fond childhood memories of watching my mom hang things on the line.

When I hung things on the line in Japan , with my hip jaunted out for the laundry basket, it felt very satisfying - all pioneer spirit and self -sufficient, LOL

I also have something very close to the "sparrow clips" above that I travel with - they're light and just slip over the shower rod , ideal for rinsed out swim suits and such

Our condo HOA doesn't allow this kind of thing. We bought a dryer rack from Bed Bath & Beyond that sits just below our balconey wall and can't be seen from outside. Use it once in a while.

We have a rack in our garage we use to dry clothing. I don't actually dry much in the clothes dryer as it beats up your clothing.

Clotheslines in this manner are suspect.
