We are a recently married, active couple in our late 20s, relocating to San Diego area - somewhere between Oceanside and Carlsbad. We love to garden, and need some outdoor space in terms of a nice patio and/or yard... and tips on what grows well in small spaces.

We'll both be home based and like to meet new people, but we don't party too hard. Need some good neighborhood/complex reccommendations. We'd prefer to be closest as possible to the ocean, restaurants and activites, but can't do more than $2K/mo.

Anyone out there with small outdoor garden! What should we do?

Thanks!

Saw this at Earth Day Fair this year. The dude running this exhibit said that plants grow twice as fast in the hydroponic gardens.

They are definitely space savers.

You just can't grow all kinds of crops in them conveniently.

Most anything does well. Be prepared to defend whatever it is you grow from the hoards of rabbits, squirrels and birds. We built our vegetable boxes up high and had to install a small solar powered electric fence( they are especially for small munching animals) around the boxes. Works great! Right now, Cherry tomatoes, Krem tomatoes, Summer squash, Peppers and Japanese eggplant are all coming in strong.
