We are attending an event at Sleep Train and are looking for recommendations on what area to stay during our visit. The event is one day only, but we are interested in staying an extra day or two as we've never been to San Diego before. We are young and enjoy good restaurants, bars, and nightlife (within walking distance preferably). We will be visiting in summer and are also looking for recommendations for the best beach(es) to hang out at. Finally, what is the best way to get to Sleep Train? We will have a car, but will likely be consuming alcohol so cannot drive. Thanks!

Kudos to you, for avoiding drinking and driving. Unfortunately, Sleep Train Amphitheater isn't well-served by public transportation. You might wind up needing a cab for at least part of the way. Here's the public transportation info for San Diego: Transit.511sd.com

Driving is the only way to get to Sleep Train, there's no public transportation that goes there. A cab each way would cost quite a bit, and there are also no hotels/motels within walking distance, so you'll be better off consuming your alcohol after the concert.

Stay in the Gaslamp, and you'll have your choice of bars and restaurants to eat and drink in.

Just stay downtown and take a party limo to and from the event.

Sleep Train Amphitheatre Chula Vista - Concert Limo and Party Bus - Cricke

There are Hotels in the Otay Mesa area which is near the venue but you will be bored out of your mind unless you feel like crossing into TJ, even then there is not much going on near the Otay Border as far as night life.
