San Diego Airport has gotten a lot better, at least Terminal 2 since they expanded it. I remember when the line for security used to be out the door and all the way across the foot bridge.

Not sure if I'd go to the airport just to hang out but there have been a couple of times when I flew back to SD on a Friday evening and stopped at Stone for a beer before requesting my Uber ride.

You gotta love the convenience factor to downtown/central San Diego. A quick and cheap 10 minute Uber ride from the house, blaze through security (it seems we get TSA pre✔️ automatically half the time) 20 or so minutes at the pleasant terminal and you're off to Kauai (or wherever your destination is).

I've visited San Diego twice and really like the airport too. Security is among the quickest of any airport I've ever been at. Love the seating by the Delta gates at the end of Terminal 2. Nevermind Uber, even the 992 bus is pretty convenient as well. I travel with just one carry-on and one small checked bag so it's not much of a hassle.

Just flew out last week and made it from my garage in Mission Valley to the GATE of my flight in 36 minutes!
That includes parking and taking the shuttle from Pacific Highway lot! I will say, TSA PreCheck helps a ton too.

San Diego never needed a 2nd airport, I always thought this was a dumb idea.
It would be nice to have a taller skyline, but this is one of the deltas with having such a convenient central airport.

San Diego International Airport is the nation's busiest single runway airport. I have yet to see the upgraded Terminal 2 since I generally fly Southwest into and out of SAN.
