Will San Diego ever see a direct flyover for cars traveling Westbound on I-78 onto I-5 Southbound?

It's pathetic that cars traveling on I-78 have to stop at a traffic light before merging onto I-5 South.

Welcome to the dinosaur age.

CA is spending the money on HSR.

Oh, which will not benefit SD at all. I hate that intersection as well, but hey if you drive straight through you can get to the beach.

And to think the current intersection is an ENORMOUS improvement!

This is the response I received!!!!!

"Currently, there is no funding to proceed ahead with the I-5/SR 78 Interchange improvements. Timing has yet to be determined."

Pathetic state.

After several decades, it feels like a quaint novelty that reminds you that you're in San Diego, instead of any other developed city.

As does SR56 to/from I-15, in both directions.

Putting flyovers for all these transitions is a good idea in theory. Until you talk to the people/businesses who either have to move elsewhere or live under the flyover. And to the budget people who have to reimburse the people/businesses. And if you remove the 'level' transitions, where do you put the sidewalks for people who actually walk across the transitions?
